TOYSURKAN, A LOVELY LONG HANDMADE RUNNER.
Toysurkan carpets (also spelled Tuyserkan) are traditional Persian rugs woven in and around the town of Tuyserkan, located in the Hamadan Province of western Iran. These rugs are part of the broader Hamadan rug group, but stand out for their distinctive patterns, quality wool, and robust structure.
Toysurkan carpets often feature central medallions, angular floral motifs, and geometric corner pieces, typically arranged in a symmetrical layout. The color palette includes rich indigo blues, deep reds, ivory, and soft browns, achieved through natural dyes.
They are woven using the Turkish (symmetrical) knot on a cotton foundation, with a medium pile and strong construction, making them highly durable. Though not as finely knotted as city rugs, Toysurkan carpets are admired for their bold design, harmonious colors, and rustic charm.
These rugs blend tribal and village aesthetics, offering a balance between decorative appeal and everyday functionality.
DIMENSIONS: 445 X 108cm
EVERY DESIGN IS UNIQUE
Due to their handcrafted nature, the pattern on our Persian Rugs may show slight imperfections, which are a hallmark of traditional weaving techniques and a sign of its authenticity and craftsmanship.
NATURAL 100% WOOL
All our Persian rugs and carpets are made with 100% wool from sheep or goats belonging to pastoral nomads who inhabit the Zargos Mountain Range in Iran. The flocks are herded during the spring months to the cooler climates of the high mountain plateaus and valleys where the grass is abundant and rich in minerals. The fleeces grow thick and produce a lustrous wool, fine in texture, and when spun and using many natural dyes, have a high colour saturation.
PROFESSIONALLY CLEANED
All our Tribal Rugs are professionally cleaned before sale to ensure they are of the highest cleanliness and quality before we place them on sale in our Narberth showroom.
