This richly detailed Senneh Kurd carpet showcases the refined tribal artistry for which the Kurdish weavers of the Sanandaj (Senneh) region are known. The design features a striking vertical sequence of angular medallions, each distinct in colour and pattern yet harmoniously connected. Deep indigo, terracotta red, and warm ochre tones dominate the palette, giving the rug a beautifully balanced and traditional feel.
Each medallion is framed by finely worked geometric motifs and stylised floral forms. The central blue diamond is particularly eye-catching, filled with intricate small blossoms and symbolic elements that draw the viewer deeper into the pattern. Flanking this are rectangular panels containing floral arrangements with a delicate, almost embroidered appearance — a hallmark of the Senneh style.
The field surrounding the medallions is densely decorated with a matrix of tiny motifs, crosses, and boteh-like forms in a warm mix of reds, blacks, creams, and saffron. This creates a rich, tapestry-like surface typical of Kurdish weaving, full of movement and layered visual interest.
A striking border of cobalt blue and earthy red frames the rug, filled with repeating rosette-and-vine patterns that bring the entire composition together. The colour transitions throughout the carpet display natural abrash, adding depth, texture, and authenticity.
This Senneh Kurd carpet is a superb example of skilled tribal craftsmanship — complex yet cohesive, vibrant yet grounded in traditional design. Perfect as a statement piece in living spaces, hallways, or eclectic interiors, it brings both cultural character and timeless beauty to any setting.

EVERY DESIGN IS UNIQUE
Due to their handcrafted nature, the pattern on our Persian Rugs may show slight imperfections, which are a hallmark of traditional weaving techniques and a sign of its authenticity and craftsmanship.
NATURAL 100% WOOL OR NATURAL FIBRES
All our Persian rugs and carpets are made with 100% wool from sheep or goats belonging to pastoral nomads who inhabit the Zargos Mountain Range in Iran. The flocks are herded during the spring months to the cooler climates of the high mountain plateaus and valleys, where the grass is abundant and rich in minerals. The fleeces grow thick and produce a lustrous wool, fine in texture and when spun, using many natural dyes, which have a high colour saturation.
PROFESSIONALLY CLEANED
All our rugs and carpets are professionally cleaned before we place them on sale in our Narberth showroom.
