This Elegant Qashqai Kashkooli carpet incorporates striking tribal design and classic Persian artistry with a bold scolloped central medallion and side spandrels, featuring rams horns,  (representing protection of the divine) and the classic hands on hips expressing the feminine genius of the artisan weavers. The four hoopoe birds sitting on branches are the sacred talking messengers of Soloman and guardians of the carpet. The two abstract motifs flanking the medallion are of stylised horses from the great Persian city of  Persepolis,550 – 330 bc. ceremonial capital of the Achaemenid empire and the winter home to the migrating Qashqai. The main border is of a lovely soft green, incorporating protective talismans, meandering vines, rosettes and palmettes. Subtly placed at both inner end guards are two boteh figures which have profound signicance in ancient Persian traditions, particulary Zoroastrian where they symbolise eternal life and resilence.

EVERY DESIGN IS UNIQUE

Due to their handcrafted nature, the pattern on our Persian Rugs may show slight imperfections, which are a hallmark of traditional weaving techniques and a sign of its authenticity and craftsmanship.

NATURAL 100% WOOL OR NATURAL FIBRES

All our Persian rugs and carpets are made with 100% wool from sheep or goats belonging to pastoral nomads who inhabit the Zargos Mountain Range in Iran. The flocks are herded during the spring months to the cooler climates of the high mountain plateaus and valleys, where the grass is abundant and rich in minerals. The fleeces grow thick and produce a lustrous wool, fine in texture and when spun, using many natural dyes, which have a high colour saturation.

PROFESSIONALLY CLEANED

All our rugs and carpets are professionally cleaned before we place them on sale in our Narberth showroom.
