Serraband rugs (also spelled Seraband, Saraband, or Seravan) are traditional Persian carpets woven in the Arak region of western Iran, particularly around the town of Saraband. These rugs are known for their distinctive patterns, durability, and refined village craftsmanship.
The most recognizable feature of a Serraband rug is the “mir-i-boteh” (or “boteh”) design—a repeating pattern of small paisley or leaf-like motifs arranged in rows across the field. This design gives the rug a rhythmic, textured appearance and is often framed by multiple narrow borders featuring floral or geometric elements.
Serraband rugs are woven using the Persian (asymmetrical) knot on a cotton foundation, with a wool pile that is generally dense and durable. The colour palette includes deep reds, midnight blues, ivories, and soft browns, created using natural dyes.
They are typically made in runners, room-sized rugs, and gallery formats, making them ideal for hallways and larger spaces. Their understated elegance and all-over design make them versatile for both classic and contemporary interiors.

NATURAL 100% WOOL
All our Persian rugs and carpets are made with 100% wool from sheep or goats belonging to pastoral nomads who inhabit the Zargos Mountain Range in Iran. The flocks are herded during the spring months to the cooler climates of the high mountain plateaus and valleys where the grass is abundant and rich in minerals. The fleeces grow thick and produce a lustrous wool, fine in texture, and when spun and using many natural dyes, have a high colour saturation.
