Lur Owlad Carpet
This Lur Owlad carpet originates from the mountains of western Iran, woven by the Lur / Bakhtiari tribes who have maintained their nomadic and semi-nomadic lifestyle for centuries. The Owlat represent a specific subtribe known for their distinctive weaving traditions and fine detailed designs.
The distinctive features of Lur Owlad carpets include their medium to high knot density, typically constructed with hand-spun wool on a wool foundation, giving them a characteristic thick, substantial feel underfoot. The weaving technique produces slightly irregular patterns that add to their authentic tribal charm, distinguishing them from more formal city carpets. These rugs often display a beautiful natural patina and possess excellent longevity due to the high-quality materials and traditional construction methods. Their rustic elegance and cultural authenticity make them highly sought after by collectors who appreciate genuine tribal artistry and the stories woven into each piece.
EVERY DESIGN IS UNIQUE
Due to their handcrafted nature, the pattern on our Persian Rugs may show slight imperfections, which are a hallmark of traditional weaving techniques and a sign of its authenticity and craftsmanship.
NATURAL 100% WOOL OR NATURAL FIBRES
All our Persian rugs and carpets are made with 100% wool from sheep or goats belonging to pastoral nomads who inhabit the Zargos Mountain Range in Iran. The flocks are herded during the spring months to the cooler climates of the high mountain plateaus and valleys, where the grass is abundant and rich in minerals. The fleeces grow thick and produce a lustrous wool, fine in texture and when spun, using many natural dyes, which have a high colour saturation.
PROFESSIONALLY CLEANED
All our rugs and carpets are professionally cleaned before we place them on sale in our Narberth showroom.
