This stunning piece, known as a Takht e Jamshid—meaning “throne of Jamshid,” a mythical king of Persia—was masterfully woven by the Koylei, a Lur tribe hailing from the western Hamidan area of Iran. The rich, deep red field immediately draws the eye, providing a dramatic contrast to the intricate, almost architectural, patterns rendered in dark indigo and earthy ochre. One can almost see the echoes of ancient thrones and grand palaces in its design. The borders, adorned with repeating floral and geometric motifs, frame the central medallion with an undeniable elegance. Every knot tells a story, every color sings of tradition and heritage, making this not just a carpet, but a piece of history and art, a true testament to the enduring skill and cultural depth of the Koylei weavers.

EVERY DESIGN IS UNIQUE

Due to their handcrafted nature, the pattern on our Persian Rugs may show slight imperfections, which are a hallmark of traditional weaving techniques and a sign of its authenticity and craftsmanship.

NATURAL 100% WOOL OR NATURAL FIBRES

All our Persian rugs and carpets are made with 100% wool from sheep or goats belonging to pastoral nomads who inhabit the Zargos Mountain Range in Iran. The flocks are herded during the spring months to the cooler climates of the high mountain plateaus and valleys, where the grass is abundant and rich in minerals. The fleeces grow thick and produce a lustrous wool, fine in texture and when spun, using many natural dyes, which have a high colour saturation.

PROFESSIONALLY CLEANED

All our rugs and carpets are professionally cleaned before we place them on sale in our Narberth showroom.
