This beautiful Lur carpet showcases the bold tribal aesthetics and expressive colourwork characteristic of the Luri weavers of western Iran. Woven with striking simplicity yet rich cultural symbolism, the design is arranged around three connected lozenge-shaped medallions that run vertically through the centre of the rug. Each diamond features a different shade — deep teal, midnight black, and a softer turquoise — creating a rhythmic visual flow that anchors the composition.
The surrounding field is a warm, burnished terracotta red, subtly variegated with natural wool abrash. Scattered across this surface are small, colourful tribal rosettes and symbolic motifs, each hand-knotted in contrasting tones of gold, saffron, ivory, rose, and emerald. These playful, almost floating elements bring movement and texture, balancing the strong geometry of the central medallions.
Framing the piece is a bold saw-tooth border, rendered in alternating shades of cream, black, ochre, and orange. This dramatic edge adds structure and energy, echoing traditional Luri design conventions while giving the carpet a distinctly contemporary appeal. The overall palette feels warm, earthy, and spirited — true to the nomadic roots of Luri weaving.
The carpet’s hand-knotted wool pile has a soft sheen that catches the light beautifully, enhancing the depth of the reds and blues. Signs of age and abrash lend authenticity and character, reminding the viewer of its handmade origin and cultural heritage.
This is a wonderfully expressive tribal piece — vibrant, geometric, and full of personality. Ideal as a statement runner or accent rug in living spaces, hallways, or eclectic interiors, it brings warmth, colour, and a strong sense of tradition. A distinctive example of Luri craftsmanship, perfect for those who appreciate genuine tribal weaving and bold, artistic design.

EVERY DESIGN IS UNIQUE
Due to their handcrafted nature, the pattern on our Persian Rugs may show slight imperfections, which are a hallmark of traditional weaving techniques and a sign of its authenticity and craftsmanship.
NATURAL 100% WOOL OR NATURAL FIBRES
All our Persian rugs and carpets are made with 100% wool from sheep or goats belonging to pastoral nomads who inhabit the Zargos Mountain Range in Iran. The flocks are herded during the spring months to the cooler climates of the high mountain plateaus and valleys, where the grass is abundant and rich in minerals. The fleeces grow thick and produce a lustrous wool, fine in texture and when spun, using many natural dyes, which have a high colour saturation.
PROFESSIONALLY CLEANED
All our rugs and carpets are professionally cleaned before we place them on sale in our Narberth showroom.
